Configurable Client-Side Printing

This custom Widget provides a greatly improved client-side printing experience for the Flex viewer (version 2.5, 3.0, 3.1 or 3.2) without the need for server-side Geoprocessing or reporting services. The Widget contains options to configure logos, north arrows and disclaimer text, and provides user options for title, sub-title, layout and paper size. The final print layout is previewed on the screen and can be printed, or exported to PDF or an image file. Print layout can optionally allow fixed scale further map navigation.

The Print preview and final output includes all visible operational and base map layers, as well as graphics layers in the current map viewer. It has been tested with tiled map services, image services, dynamic map services, feature layers and graphics layers. Client-side graphics can be challenging to integrate with server-side printing services, which are more appropriate for high-quality plots and map book applications.

Measure with Snapping and Real-time Feedback

This custom Widget provides immediate feedback to the user while drawing measurement graphics on the map. For line features, Segment Length and Total Distance are updated as the mouse moves, and for polygon features, Area is also updated in real time. The Widget supports snapping (CTRL-Key) to other graphics or map features, and the colours and styles of the graphics are user-controllable.
Note - due to limitations in the Flex API, real-time coordinate readout can only work in Web Mercator and WGS 84.

Coordinate Conversion

This Simple Widget can be configured to allow the reporting of coordinates (from a simple mouse-click on the map) in any coordinate system. Does not interfere with other mouse actions. Coordinated systems can be specified by WKID or Text. Leverages a ArcGIS Server geometry service (also configurable).

Point Manager

This is a collection of three widgets - View, Search and Edit - that provide the ability to work with points in the Flex Viewer without requiring editable feature services or a full blown ArcGIS Server infrastructure. Viewing points leverages a simple, configurable GeoJSON service that can work with virtually any database (including SQL Server Express, mySQL) and any web server supporting PHP scripting.

The Flex widgets are also simple to configure and communicate with the PHP services using GeoJSON and XML to provide a simple solution for managing a collection of points. The PHP scripts leverage native spatial operators in the data base, but work with simple numeric fields containing latitude and longitude values.
